WINNING vs WINNER

I know that this two words sounds similar, and for many people they mean similar too, but let me tell you that they are totally different.

So now the question is that "What is the difference between winning and being a winner ?"

" Winning is a event and being a Winner is a spirit "

So. let me tell you a story to get grip on the terms :-

In 1968 Olympic Marathon in Mexico City, John Stephen Akhwari was competing in the forty-two km
race. Accidentally, he got hit. He hurt his knees badly and dislocated some joints at the 19th kilometre point.  He could have quit the the race at that point, but in spite of severe pain, he continued running and eventually finished last amongst 57 competitors who completed the race out of 57, He ran approximately three and a half hours even when the crowd had dispersed and it was after sunset, The winner of the Marathon was someone else. When the medal were being awarded, the television crew came to know that there was one person who was still running and was about to finish the race. As he finally crossed the finish line , the remaining people cheered him and when asked by the television crew why he had continued running, he said, "My country did not send me 5000 miles to start the race, they sent me 5000 miles to finish the race." What a spirit !

From this story one can conclude that :--
"One can be a winner without a medal and a loser with a medal if winning is not kept in perspective"

At last I want to remind all the people who want to win by hook or crook (i.e by dishonesty), a line said by Mark Twain that, " It is better to deserve an honor and not have it than to have it and not deserve it"

Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead :)
